Upgrade process from Lenny To Squeeze.

Replace source

vi /etc/apt/source.list
%s/lenny/squeeze/gc

say y to questions

update

aptitude update

release notes

apt-get purge splashy

apt-get update
apt-get clean
aptitude search linux-image
# I see there are choices for: linlinux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64 or  linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 so I'm going to let the system decide
apt-get update
apt-get install linux-image-2.6-amd64
#System will change from device names to device id's. write down any conflicts to inspect later. SCD0
#If system says that some firmware might not work you can add non-free to list of sources in /etc/apt/source.list
#deb http://debian.uchicago.edu/debian/ squeeze main non-free and install package that you need. I would google to see which package you need. I needed:
apt-get install firmware-realtek
apt-get install udev
Reboot

apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
#Next step is to remove unneeded packages. Make sure you don't use any of them. If you do just install them first before running below.
apt-get autoremove
